"Nation first": Sponsor Quits WCL Semi-final over India-Pakistan clash!

EaseMyTrip, a key sponsor of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), officially withdrew its support from the India Champions vs Pakistan Champions semi-final scheduled for July 30–31 in Birmingham, citing national sentiment and security concerns. Co-founder Nishant Pitti stated unequivocally: “Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand”, adding: “We stand with India”, and explicitly rejecting any event that could normalize sporting ties with Pakistan amid fallout from the April Pahalgam terror attack.

Pitti’s statement praised Team India’s tournament performance but made clear that this fixture was not “just another game”. He emphasized it was a moral choice: “Nation first, business later. Always. Jai Hind.”

This high-profile corporate exit follows Indian legends’ earlier boycott of the India–Pakistan clash in the league stage, prompting organizers to cancel that fixture. The current controversy has raised doubts over whether the semi-final will proceed as planned.

As of now, WCL organizers have not issued a full response on the match’s status. The incident underlines how sociopolitical tensions increasingly intersect with high-profile sporting events.
