On July 31, 2025, sustained heavy monsoon rain pounded Delhi and neighbouring NCR regions, resulting in traffic chaos and significant waterlogging across key localities such as ITO, Mehrauli‑Gurgaon Road, Nehru Place, and Jangpura. Traffic snarls and flooded roads prompted disruptive commutes across Delhi and parts of Noida and Faridabad.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is under a 95% chance of precipitation today, with high humidity near 82% and temperatures ranging from 26 °C to 30 °C. The forecast includes light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning through August 3, driven by a nearby low-pressure system and a monsoon trough.
Authorities issued safety advisories urging residents to avoid waterlogged areas, use caution on slippery roads, and carry rain gear at all times. Flight operations at the IGI airport and overground transport have faced delays due to poor visibility and traffic jams, prompting airlines to alert passengers to monitor their schedules.
The persistent rain has broken July’s average rainfall targets early, and the wet spell is expected to continue into early August. Residents should plan carefully, remain vigilant and stay updated with weather alerts as the city grapples with the monsoon’s full force.
