Jhalawar School Roof Collapse Tragedy

In Jhalawar district’s Piplodi village, the roof of a government primary school collapsed during morning prayers on July 25, 2025, killing four children and injuring 17 others. Roughly 40–60 children were inside when the roof caved in and many were feared trapped under debris.

Local villagers, teachers, and rescue crews sprang into action. They initially used manual effort and later JCB machines to lift the rubble and reach trapped students. Injured students were taken to the Manohar Thana Community Health Centre for urgent care. Residents had warned about the school’s poor structure before, raising concerns about its unsafe condition. No repairs had been done despite these warnings.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse, with early signs pointing to long-term neglect of infrastructure maintenance. District officers and disaster relief teams continue monitoring the rescue mission and managing the aftermath.
