The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has proposed an ambitious extension of the Blue Line from Noida Electronic City to Sahibabad in Ghaziabad, marking a significant step towards improved urban mobility in the National Capital Region. This 5 km extension is set to traverse key areas such as Indirapuram, Vasundhara, and Vaishali, directly benefiting over 500,000 residents by providing enhanced access to the metro network.
The proposed corridor will feature five new stations: Vaibhav Khand, DPS Indirapuram, Shakti Khand, Vasundhara Sector 5, and Sahibabad. This development aims to integrate seamlessly with the existing Namo Bharat corridor, facilitating smoother transitions between different modes of transport.
To initiate this project, DMRC has sought preliminary approval from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The estimated cost for this extension is approximately ₹1,517 crore, with funding discussions underway between the GDA, UP Housing Board, and the central government.
If approved, this extension will not only alleviate traffic congestion but also promote sustainable urban development by encouraging the use of public transportation. Residents and commuters in the region can look forward to a more connected and efficient transit system in the near future.
