On July 25, 2025, Veda Krishnamurthy announced her retirement from international cricket at the age of 32, closing a full decade of representing India with pride and passion. Born in Kadur, Karnataka, Veda began playing street cricket at age 3 and broke into senior state-level cricket by age 13, driven by hard work and ambition.
Veda played 48 ODIs and 76 T20Is, scoring over 800 runs in each format. She was known for her aggressive batting, agile fielding, and fierce determination on the field. Memorable moments include her fiery 70 off 45 balls in the 2017 World Cup match, which lifted India into the semis.
Despite hardships losing her mother and sister during the COVID pandemic she returned stronger to the game, becoming a symbol of grit for fans and young cricketers. Though she’s retiring from playing, Veda says she will stay connected to cricket in some new role, perhaps as a mentor, coach, or commentator.
Veda’s journey from small-town roots to national star has inspired many, showing how passion and resilience can take you far. Her legacy lives on in the field and beyond.
