A burglary was reported at the Tikona Peth bungalow owned by Sangeeta Bijlani, wife of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin, between March 7 and July 18, 2025, according to Pune Rural Police. Intruders cut through the compound’s wire mesh, climbed to the first-floor gallery, pried open a window grill, and entered the vacant residence .
Stolen items include a television set valued at around ₹7,000 and ₹50,000 in cash, totalling an estimated loss of ₹57,000. The culprits also vandalised property within the house, indicating deliberate damage beyond theft .
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Lonavala Rural Police have initiated an investigation. Mohammad Mujib Khan, the cricketer’s personal assistant, filed the complaint after the break-in was discovered during a routine inspection .
Police are currently examining the crime scene, reviewing nearby CCTV footage, and collecting forensic evidence to identify the perpetrators. The incident highlights concerns over the security of unoccupied holiday homes in the region.
