Imagine waking up to the calls of leopards or elephants instead of alarms. Jai Dhar Gupta made this dream a reality on 32 acres in Uttarakhand’s Shivalik foothills. Inspired by Avatar, he wanted a self-sustaining ecosystem where humans and wildlife coexist.
Partnering with rewilding expert Vijay Dhasmana, Jai transformed former agricultural land into the Rajaji Raghati Biosphere. They removed 5,000 non-native eucalyptus trees, restored natural contours, and planted 62 native species on the brink of extinction. The result? A thriving habitat attracting leopards, elephants, and countless bird species.
Jai, who previously fought air pollution in Delhi, believes true wealth lies in mental peace, not city mansions. With strict rules banning vehicles, plastic, and outside seeds, the biosphere minimizes human impact, letting nature take the lead. Prefab eco-homes provide minimal disturbance for overnight stays, serving as a model to inspire others to rewild their own lands.
The duo’s message is clear: reconnect with nature, reduce your carbon footprint, and rediscover life in its purest form.
