Heavy monsoon rains drenched South Delhi when a surprise guest appeared in a storeroom at Kendriya Vidyalaya, NMR — a large snake! Panic could have spread, but instead, calm and quick action prevailed.
Principal Chandan Kohli immediately called Wildlife SOS, the nonprofit known for rescuing wild animals. The trained team arrived, identified the snake as a harmless Indian rat snake, conducted a health check, and safely released it far from human settlements.
Indian rat snakes are vital for controlling rodents and pose no threat when handled by professionals. The incident highlights how heavy rains force snakes into urban areas, including schools and homes.
The rescue offers a simple yet powerful lesson: humans and wildlife can coexist peacefully if we stay calm and act responsibly. By respecting nature and contacting experts rather than reacting in fear, encounters like these can be safe and educational for everyone.
