India's electronics industry is undergoing a seismic shift from a production endpoint to a global manufacturing nucleus. Major players like Apple now undertake 5–7% of global iPhone production in India, with ambitions to scale to 25%, generating over $22 billion in exports in just the first half of 2025. The ripple effects span the entire ecosystem. Tech brands like Nothing are manufacturing smartphones locally (95% of the workforce are women), while Chinese wearable brand QCY has set up a major facility in Haryana, backed by Government incentives like PLI, with over Rs 1.76 lakh crore in investments and more than 1.2 million jobs enabled.
Homegrown champions are leading too: boAt, Mivi, and Noise now manufacture significant portions of their audio devices in India, supported by contract manufacturers like Dixon Technologies. With reforms in SEZ policies and state incentives spanning Gujarat, Odisha, Assam, and UP, India is crafting a diversified, scalable electronics manufacturing landscape. Coupled with rising domestic demand and strategic geopolitics, India has evolved from being a node in supply chains to becoming an indispensable, export-oriented electronics hub.
