An IndiGo flight en route from Patna to Ranchi was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday after being struck by a vulture at an altitude of 4,000 feet, according to officials. The impact caused a dent in the aircraft, but all 175 passengers onboard were reported safe.
R R Maurya, Director of Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi, confirmed the incident and said engineers were currently assessing the extent of the damage. The bird strike occurred approximately 10 to 12 nautical miles from the airport.
This is the latest in a string of troubling incidents for IndiGo flights, including a Raipur to Delhi flight encountering turbulence due to a dust storm and a Srinagar-bound flight damaged in a hailstorm. Despite the scares, pilots ensured safe landings in all cases, showcasing the crew's preparedness and resilience.
