In a surprising show of unity, former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress leader Sachin Pilot shared the stage in Dausa for the first time in five years. This comes after a prolonged rift that began with Pilot’s 2020 revolt against Gehlot, nearly toppling the Congress government. Speaking at a ceremony honoring the late Rajesh Pilot, Gehlot claimed there was never a real divide. “We are always together. The media created the narrative of separation,” he said.
Pilot had personally invited Gehlot to the event during a rare two-hour meeting at his Jaipur residence, signaling a thaw in their strained relationship. Party leaders and workers hailed the moment as historic and vital for Congress unity in Rajasthan.
As the party eyes a comeback, this reconciliation between two powerful factions could reshape the political landscape in the state and potentially energize Congress's strategy ahead of upcoming elections.
