The capital is sweltering under intense summer heat as temperatures in areas like Lodhi Road, Safdarjung, and Aya Nagar crossed 44°C on Monday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions till June 12, with forecasts predicting the temperature to remain between 44°C to 45°C.
When Will Delhi Get Relief?
As per IMD, light rainfall is expected between June 12 and 14, but significant relief is unlikely before the end of the month when the monsoon is expected to arrive in Delhi.
Capital Under Heatwave Trial
The last two days have tested Delhiites' endurance. The scorching sun hasn't spared even the late afternoon hours — around 3 PM, pedestrians and bikers were still battling the oppressive heat.
