Rainy season diet: superfoods to keep you strong!

The monsoon season brings much-needed relief from the summer heat but also increases the risk of various health issues due to high humidity and fluctuating temperatures. This environment fosters the growth of bacteria and viruses, leading to ailments like colds, coughs, digestive problems, and skin allergies. To combat these challenges, incorporating specific superfoods into your diet can significantly enhance your immune system and overall well-being.

Nutrition experts recommend consuming fresh fruits such as guava, papaya, and apples after thoroughly washing and peeling them to eliminate contaminants. Vegetables like carrots, corn, and okra should be lightly boiled or steamed to aid digestion and kill harmful bacteria. Including well-cooked grains and pulses like oats, porridge, and moong dal can further support digestive health. Soaking dry fruits like dates and figs in warm water before consumption makes them easier to digest and more beneficial.

It's crucial to avoid raw or undercooked foods, street food, and items that spoil quickly, as they can lead to food poisoning and infections. Special attention should be given to children and the elderly, ensuring they consume light, nutritious meals and maintain good hygiene practices to bolster their immunity during the monsoon.
