Still using makeup wipes? You might be damaging your skin, say experts!

Removing makeup may seem like a simple task, but common mistakes can seriously affect your skin’s health and speed up aging. Experts warn against using eye makeup remover on the whole face or relying solely on facial cleansers and wipes.

These methods don’t fully cleanse and may clog pores or leave behind irritants. Scrubbing too hard, reusing towels, or skipping the jaw, neck, and hairline also lead to breakouts and uneven skin tone.

Dermatologists advise against hot water, harsh products, or wetting your face before applying oil-based removers. Double cleansing—first with a balm or oil, then with a gentle cleanser - ensures thorough removal. Finally, skipping aftercare like moisturizer weakens the skin barrier and accelerates dryness and aging.

To protect youthful skin, use lukewarm water, gentle products, clean towels, and always hydrate afterward. With mindful habits, your nighttime routine can fight aging rather than contribute to it.
