Nestled along NH-62 between Jodhpur and Pali, near Chotila in Rajasthan, the Om Banna Temple—also called Bullet Baba Temple—honours a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 (registration RNJ‑7773) and its late rider, Om Singh Rathore, who died in a road accident in 1988.
The legend took shape after the bullet mysteriously returned to the crash site—even when police confiscated it, emptied its tank, and locked it. Each morning, villagers found the bike back at the ditch where Om Banna met his fate. Soon, locals began to believe that his spirit protected travelers and worshipped the motorcycle as a guardian deity.
Today, the bike sits in a glass enclosure at the shrine, draped in marigold garlands and red cloth. Nearby, a bust of Om Banna and the tree involved in the crash stand as poignant symbols. Devotees offer everything from flowers and prayer threads to liquor and cigarettes, believing these offerings invoke safe road journeys.
Legend says that drivers who skip stopping at the temple might face perilous travel ahead. With no entry fee and open daily, the site attracts bikers, truckers, and curious travellers alike. It’s especially popular among Royal Enfield enthusiasts drawn by the bike’s miraculous legacy.
Om Banna Temple is more than a roadside shrine—it’s a fascinating mix of folklore, faith, and Indian road culture. For many, the ride past turns into reverence, and every pilgrimage begins with the honk that stops for the Bullet Baba.
