In a significant cross-state operation, five individuals were apprehended in an early-morning raid conducted jointly by Patna Police and the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) in Kolkata’s New Town area. The arrests are in connection with the July 17 murder of gangster Chandan Mishra, who was fatally shot inside a private hospital Paras HMRI in Patna while on medical parole.
Hospital CCTV footage captured the chilling moment when five masked assailants entered Mishra’s ICU room and opened fire, fleeing undetected. Mishra, a life-convicted gangster from Buxar with over 24 criminal cases, was receiving treatment for liver surgery under medical parole.
Sources reveal the accused fled from Patna to New Town, where their phone tower pings led investigators to a housing complex. Four are believed to be the gunmen involved in the ICU shooting, while the fifth played a supporting role .
The accused are being transferred to Bihar under transit remand for further questioning and court proceedings. The operation highlights strong inter-state coordination in tackling organized criminal networks, as police continue searching for other suspects still at large.
