BREAKING: Terrorists trapped in Kashmir's Kishtwar as gunfight breaks out

Fresh violence erupted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Wednesday, as an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Singhpora area of Chatroo. Acting on specific intelligence, security forces launched a cordon and search operation, leading to a fierce exchange of fire. At least three terrorists are believed to be trapped, according to local reports.

This encounter follows India's precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7, launched in response to the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. Dubbed Operation Sindoor, the retaliatory strike saw escalations from Pakistan on May 8-10, before both sides reached a ceasefire understanding.

In the past week, six terrorists were eliminated in separate encounters in Shopian and Tral. Security officials have called these successful operations a testament to growing coordination and precision in counterterror efforts.
