In today's environment, where pollution, UV exposure, and blue light from digital devices are constant stressors, relying solely on a basic moisturiser may not suffice for optimal skin health. Dr. Mikki Singh, Medical Director at Bengaluru's Bodycraft Clinic, emphasizes that while moisturisers are foundational for hydration, modern skincare demands products that offer more comprehensive protection and repair.
To combat these environmental aggressors, Dr. Singh recommends incorporating advanced skincare ingredients into your routine. Antioxidants like Vitamin C, resveratrol, coenzyme Q10, and glutathione can neutralize free radicals, supporting the skin's natural repair processes and working synergistically with moisturisers to enhance hydration and protection.
Furthermore, strengthening the skin's barrier is crucial. Ingredients such as peptides, ceramides, and niacinamide not only bolster the skin's resilience but also improve its ability to retain moisture and defend against external irritants.
In essence, while moisturisers remain a vital component of skincare, augmenting them with targeted treatments addressing specific environmental challenges is essential for maintaining healthy, youthful skin in 2025.
