In response to the ongoing ANI vs YouTubers copyright controversy, government-run broadcasters like Doordarshan, Akashvani, Prasar Bharati, and PIB have opened their content archives for free use by creators.
This move follows backlash against ANI, which was accused by YouTubers like Mohak Mangal of misusing copyright strikes to suppress independent voices and later demanding hefty sums for takedown withdrawal.
To counter this, Prasar Bharati is now offering rare visuals, historic footage, and verified data - all copyright-free. Akashvani also shared that creators can access explainers, shorts, and documentaries across 50 categories in 15 Indian languages. PIB and Doordarshan have supported the initiative, encouraging creators to use verified, reliable content freely.
This initiative not only supports fair content creation but also empowers independent voices by removing legal hurdles and offering transparent, accessible resources—marking a significant shift in public content policy amid rising concerns around digital censorship and copyright misuse.
