Who is Kami Rita? Climbs Mount Everest for the 31st time, breaks own record!

Kami Rita Sherpa, a legendary Nepalese climber, has once again made history by scaling Mount Everest for the 31st time, solidifying his unmatched status in the mountaineering world. The 55 year old summited the 8,849-meter peak at 4 am on Tuesday under stable weather, as confirmed by Seven Summit Treks.

Guiding a team from the Indian Army Adventure Wing, Kami Rita completed yet another successful expedition, having previously reached the summit twice each season in recent years. His unmatched journey began in 1992 and has seen him climb Everest almost annually since 1994.

Apart from Everest, he has also scaled K2, Mt Lhotse, Manaslu, and Cho Oyu multiple times. Born in Solukhumbu, the Sherpa heartland, Kami Rita carries forward his father's legacy of mountaineering.

His closest competitor, Pasang Dawa, remains behind with 29 ascents. Kami Rita remains safe and is currently descending back to base camp.
