Following the Indian government's ban on 25 OTT platforms, including ALTT, for streaming explicit content, producer Ektaa Kapoor issued a public clarification. She stated that neither she nor her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have been associated with ALTT since June 2021. The statement, shared via her production house's official handle, emphasized their disassociation from the platform's current operations.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, after consultations with various departments and experts, decided to block access to these platforms under the Information Technology Act of 2000 and the IT Rules of 2021. The move aims to regulate content and protect viewers from inappropriate material.
Ektaa Kapoor's clarification seeks to address public concerns and misinformation regarding her involvement with ALTT. She reaffirmed her commitment to producing content that aligns with legal and ethical standards. This development underscores the importance of responsible content creation and the evolving landscape of digital media in India.
