On 10 September, history witnessed two turning points—one in India and one in the world.
In India, this date marks the birth of C. Rajagopalachari in 1878, an influential freedom fighter, statesman, and the last Governor-General of India. Fondly called Rajaji, he shaped modern India with his strong voice for independence, rational governance, and his role in establishing the Swatantra Party. His leadership and vision left an imprint on Indian politics, inspiring generations about democracy beyond the Congress dominance.
On the global stage, 10 September 2008 marked a giant leap for science. The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) successfully powered up the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s most powerful particle accelerator. It was built to recreate conditions of the Big Bang and study fundamental particles of the universe. This breakthrough not only redefined physics but also sparked global discussions on the origins of life and the future of scientific discovery.
Two events, worlds apart, yet connected by their ability to shape how humanity understands power—political and cosmic.
