In a bold announcement on Tuesday, former U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the much-anticipated ceasefire between Iran and Israel is “NOW IN EFFECT.” Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump warned, "PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!" as tensions in the Middle East hang by a thread.
According to Trump's earlier statement, the ceasefire follows a phased 24-hour plan starting at 0400 GMT Tuesday, with Iran unilaterally halting military operations first. Israel is expected to follow 12 hours later, effectively pausing hostilities that erupted into a fierce 12-day conflict.
The ceasefire follows days of intense negotiations reportedly involving Qatar, the U.S., and other regional actors. Though Iran has yet to confirm full compliance publicly, initial signs suggest a reduction in active hostilities, with no major attacks reported since the ceasefire time window began.
While the world watches with cautious optimism, analysts stress that without a formal agreement and oversight mechanism, the truce remains fragile. Trump’s public plea signals both urgency and pressure on leaders to maintain the peace.
