Muskan Rastogi, 28, accused of the brutal murder of her husband, ex-merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput, has requested permission to study law while lodged in Meerut jail. She expressed dissatisfaction with her legal counsel and wants to represent herself in court.

Rajput’s dismembered and cement-sealed body was discovered in a plastic drum on March 18. Muskan and her lover Sahil Shukla were arrested after a getaway trip to Himachal Pradesh. Despite having only studied till Class 8, Muskan now wants to pursue legal education, though officials confirmed she must first complete her senior secondary education.

Jail officials said no one from her family has visited her, while Sahil’s relatives have. Muskan was also found to be pregnant during a jail check-up. A 1,000-page chargesheet with 34 witness statements reveals a chilling murder conspiracy involving the couple, including decapitation and an attempted body concealment with cement.
