Kamal Haasan set to enter Rajya Sabha with DMK support

Actor turned politician Kamal Haasan is all set to enter the Rajya Sabha, with backing from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). In a major political development, the ruling DMK has decided to allocate one of its four Rajya Sabha seats to Haasan’s party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM).

The MNM has passed a formal resolution nominating Haasan, marking a significant moment in his political career that began in 2018 with a call for alternative governance and systemic reform.

This move signals a growing alliance between DMK and MNM, potentially reshaping Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. DMK also announced P Wilson, poet Salma, and SR Sivalingam as its other Rajya Sabha candidates.

Haasan’s entry into the Upper House strengthens his political footprint just as his film Thug Life nears release, blending his cinematic charisma with parliamentary power.
