On June 17, 2025, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had eliminated Major General Ali Shadmani, the newly appointed commander of Iran’s Khatam al‑Anbiya Central Headquarters. Shadmani had been promoted only four days earlier following the death of his predecessor, Gholam Ali Rashid, in an earlier Israeli strike.
The strike, carried out by fighter jets targeting a command center in central Tehran, represents a major escalation in the ongoing Israel‑Iran conflict. It marks the second high‑level assassination claimed by Israel in just days, striking at the core of Iran’s military leadership.
The IDF also stated that this operation was part of broader “extensive strikes” across western Iran, aimed at missile storage sites, air‑defense systems, and UAV infrastructure.
