In 2021, FC Garhwal then a nearly seven-decade-old men’s club made a bold shift by building an all-girls team from scratch, relying solely on BBFS’s structure and player dedication. Coach Akshay Menon scouted across India, bringing in 26 talented girls including four under-13s from Meghalaya and combining education with training to lay the foundation.
The early journey was defined by cramped rooms, crowded commutes, homemade meals, and unwavering teamwork where camaraderie outweighed comfort. In 2023, they won the Delhi Women’s League, marking the club’s first female championship. Now promoted to the Indian Women’s League, they've confronted new challenges: long travel, sparse infrastructure, and no corporate backing.

Yet, the team averaging just 17 years old, with several already in national squads remains grounded. Menon focuses on sustainable futures, guiding players toward coaching roles, government jobs, or education post-retirement. For these girls, football has become more than a game it’s a path to choice, dignity, and transformation.
