High heels were first made for men, not women!

Yes, it’s true! High heels were originally created for Persian soldiers in the 10th century. These heels helped them stay steady in their stirrups while riding horses and shooting arrows. It wasn’t about fashion back then - it was all about practicality and control.

Later, in the 17th century, European men, especially the rich and powerful, started wearing heels as a symbol of status and power. One famous example is King Louis XIV of France, who wore red-heeled shoes. In fact, only people from the royal court were allowed to wear red heels - it showed they were elite and important.

However, as time passed and fashion changed, men stopped wearing heels. By the 18th century, heels became popular among women and started being seen as a sign of femininity, grace, and elegance.

Today, we mostly associate heels with women’s fashion, but their origin tells a very different story. What began as a tool of war and power slowly turned into a style statement.

The journey of heels shows how fashion can change over time - and how something made for men can become iconic for women!
