Elon Musk announces formation of ‘America Party’ amid dispute with Donald Trump

In a significant political development, Elon Musk announced the formation of the "America Party" on July 5, 2025, positioning it as an alternative to the existing two-party system in the United States. This move comes in response to President Donald Trump's enactment of the controversial "One Big Beautiful Bill," which Musk criticizes for its substantial increase in national debt.

Musk, who previously supported Trump and served in his administration, expressed his disillusionment with both major parties, stating, "When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy." He emphasized that the America Party aims to restore freedom and represent the "80 percent in the middle" of the political spectrum. As per Elon Musk, the America party will serve as an option for Americans who are unhappy with both Republican and Democratic parties.

The announcement followed a poll conducted by Musk on social media platform X, where approximately 65% of over 1.2 million respondents supported the creation of a new political party.
