In a tragic update to the Air India Ahmedabad–London flight crash, DNA tests have confirmed the identities of six victims, paving the way for the remains to be handed over to their grieving families. This comes after a week of intensive forensic testing at multiple labs across Gujarat and Delhi.

Air India officials confirmed that 241 out of 242 people onboard the Boeing 787-8 aircraft perished in the horrific mid-air disaster, making it one of the deadliest aviation tragedies in recent Indian history. The lone survivor remains under intensive medical and psychiatric care.

The identified victims include passengers from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Punjab, and their families have been notified. Officials say the remaining bodies are severely charred and require further advanced DNA analysis.

State and central governments have assured full support to the bereaved families, including fast-tracked compensation and transport arrangements for last rites. The crash, suspected to be caused by a combination of technical failure and severe turbulence, is still under investigation by a high-level panel.

This tragic incident has left the entire nation in mourning.
