On June 23, 2025, by‑polls for five legislative seats across Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab, and West Bengal delivered varied results, spotlighting shifting political currents.
Kerala (Nilambur): Congress-led UDF scored a major victory as Aryadan Shoukath defeated the LDF candidate by a comfortable margin—a key morale booster for Congress in the state .
West Bengal (Kaliganj): Trinamool Congress’s Alifa Ahmed won decisively, retaining the seat with a landslide, maintaining TMC’s stronghold in Nadia district.
Gujarat (Visavadar & Kadi): AAP’s Gopal Italia clinched Visavadar, while the BJP’s Rajendra Chavda held onto Kadi. Following poor performance, Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil resigned.
Punjab (Ludhiana West): AAP’s Sanjeev Arora secured a strong victory, defeating Congress’s Bharat Bhushan Ashu by over 10,600 votes—a boost ahead of the 2027 state elections. BJP’s candidate took third place, and their Union Minister Ravneet Bittu acknowledged the loss while urging party workers to regroup.
These results confirm AAP as the principal gainer with two wins, while TMC, Congress, and BJP took one seat each.
