Top cricket official arrested! Sunrisers Hyderabad caught in corruption scandal?

Telangana police arrested five people Wednesday, including three senior Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) officials accused of forgery and fund misappropriation. HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao, treasurer C J Srinivas Rao, and CEO Suneel Kante were among those arrested.

Investigations revealed Rao used a forged Gowlipura Cricket Club membership to contest the 2023 HCA elections. The officials allegedly misappropriated over Rs 2.3 crore from the association.

The case, filed by Telangana Cricket Association's general secretary, includes charges of forgery, cheating, and criminal breach of trust. The arrests follow criticism of HCA's excessive demands for complimentary IPL passes from Sunrisers Hyderabad management.
