Apple vs Europe: $587M antitrust war heads to court!

Apple filed an appeal Monday against the European Commission's €500 million ($587 million) fine for violating the Digital Markets Act. The April decision targeted Apple's restrictions preventing app developers from directing users to cheaper deals outside the App Store.

"We believe the European Commission's decision and unprecedented fine go far beyond what the law requires," Apple stated, arguing the EC is "mandating how we run our store and forcing business terms which are confusing for developers and bad for users."

To avoid daily fines of €50 million, Apple recently overhauled its App Store rules. The EU competition watchdog is currently seeking developer feedback before determining whether to accept these changes or demand further modifications.
