A tragic mass shooting occurred on July 28, 2025, at the Or Tor Kor Market in Bangkok’s Bang Sue district, where a lone assailant fatally shot multiple victims before turning the weapon on himself, according to police. The assailant killed four security guards and one female market vendor before committing suicide on a bench inside the market. The total death toll stands at six, including the gunman, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Charin Gopatta of the Metropolitan Police Bureau. 

Police have launched an urgent investigation to determine the motive, exploring possible links to ongoing border tensions between Thailand and Cambodia. Authorities reported the incident occurred at 12:31 pm local time during peak hours at the busy produce market near Chatuchak. Coincidentally, the market was also hosting a collection drive supporting border-displaced residents amid escalating regional violence.
