At least 36 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims suffered minor injuries on July 5, 2025, when five buses in a south‑bound convoy collided near Chanderkote in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district during a scheduled breakfast break. The incident occurred around 8 am on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, as a trailing bus reportedly suffered a brake failure, losing control and crashing into the stationary vehicles .
Rescue teams and district officials promptly transported the injured to Ramban District Hospital, where most received first‑aid and were discharged, with only three to four pilgrims unable to continue the pilgrimage. The Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, and senior police visited the hospital to oversee care.
Officials have arranged replacement buses so that the remaining pilgrims could resume their journey to the Pahalgam base camp. An investigation is underway to confirm the precise mechanical failure, while authorities continue ensuring the pilgrimage proceeds smoothly.
