Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal celebrated the 10-year milestone of his debut film Masaan on July 24, 2025, calling the experience as vivid as if it happened “yesterday”. The film, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, marked Kaushal’s first acting role and Ghaywan’s debut behind the camera. It garnered international acclaim, with awards at Cannes, including the FIPRESCI Prize and the Prix de l’Avenir in the Un Certain Regard section.
Kaushal posted a montage from the film on Instagram stories and reposted Prime Video’s tribute with the caption simply reading “10 years.” His emotional return to those early scenes highlighted immense gratitude toward Ghaywan for entrusting him with the role of Deepak, a young cremation‑ground worker in Varanasi striving for dignity and escape.
Reflecting on his broader journey, Kaushal told PTI that working with varied directors over the decade has been “nothing short of a blessing” and described his trajectory since Masaan as “surreal.”
The film also won multiple national accolades, including Best Debut Director for Ghaywan and Most Promising Newcomer–Male for Kaushal. Today it stands as a cult classic - Masaan is widely regarded as one of the most poignant independent dramas of modern Indian cinema.
