Your houseplants may double as skincare heroes, here’s how

Indoor gardeners aren’t just beautifying their homes—they’re boosting their skincare routines too. These are eight plants that offer notable cosmetic benefits.

Aloe vera tops the list: its gel is renowned for soothing burns, hydrating skin, and calming acne flare-ups. A simple DIY remedy—cut a leaf and apply the gel directly—offers instant relief. Lavender follows, praised for its fragrant, relaxing scent that promotes sleep and for its anti-inflammatory properties that ease irritated skin.

Neem takes centre stage for its potent antibacterial and antifungal effects: when made into a paste, it becomes a natural face pack against blemishes. Similarly, the snake plant, known as mother-in-law’s tongue, purifies air and releases oxygen at night—indirectly revitalizing skin by enhancing sleep quality.

Also great are the spider plant, rose, mint, and chamomile. Spider plants cleanse indoor air, facilitating healthier skin recovery. Rose petals—rich in antioxidants—are distilled into rosewater, an effective natural toner. Mint offers a cooling, oil‑control effect, while chamomile tea works as a calming, anti-inflammatory facial mist.
