The search and rescue operation resumed early Friday (July 11, 2025) morning in Gujarat’s Mahisagar river, following the tragic collapse of the Gambhira bridge near Padra in Vadodara district. Officials confirmed that two persons remain missing, with teams continuing efforts to locate them.
According to Vadodara Collector Anil Dhameliya, the operation is being carried out with the assistance of disaster response teams, divers, and local authorities, who have been combing through the river since the incident occurred on Wednesday. So far, 13 bodies have been recovered after four vehicles plunged into the river when a section of the bridge gave way.
The incident has raised concerns about infrastructure safety and maintenance protocols in the region. Authorities have assured that an inquiry is underway to determine the cause of the collapse and assess any negligence involved.
Local communities and families of the victims continue to wait anxiously as officials press on with the search amid challenging conditions.
