Rohit Sharma has reached the summit of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s ODI Batting Rankings for the first time in his career. The 38-year-old Indian opener leapfrogged two places to accumulate 781 rating points, moving past Ibrahim Zadran on 764 and his teammate Shubman Gill on 745.
This milestone comes directly on the back of Sharma’s brilliant form in the recent three-match ODI series in Australia. After scoring 73 in Adelaide, he delivered an unbeaten 121 in Sydney, steering India to a dominant nine-wicket victory. His efforts in that series - 202 runs at an average over 100 - have reinforced his status as one of modern cricket’s most dependable limited-overs batsmen.
At 38 years and 182 days, Sharma becomes the oldest batter ever to achieve the No. 1 ranking in ODI batting. His ascent not only reflects his enduring class but also adds a glittering new chapter to his illustrious career.
