Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing a rally in Katra Jammu and Kashmir condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack accusing Pakistan of targeting insaniyat and Kashmiriyat to incite riots and disrupt Kashmiri livelihoods. The attack in Baisaran near Pahalgam killed 26 civilians mostly tourists prompting India to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty on April 23 and launch Operation Sindoor on May 7 targeting nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and PoK killing over 100 terrorists. Modi praised the Jammu and Kashmir youth for resisting Pakistan's conspiracy noting their resolve against terrorism that once devastated the region.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry rejected Modi's claims as baseless expressing dismay over the lack of evidence. After India foiled Pakistan's retaliatory attempts including drone attacks a ceasefire was agreed upon on May 10 following intense four day clashes. Tensions remain high as both nations navigate this fragile truce.
