New secret Railway portal? For MPs only!

The Railway Ministry, under Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, has announced the development of a dedicated digital booking portal tailored for Members of Parliament - both sitting and former - for reserving train tickets online. Confirming in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on July 23, 2025, Vaishnaw stated that the new software will allow MPs and their spouses to book or cancel reserved tickets at their convenience, streamlining parliamentary travel arrangements.

This initiative responds to a query by Congress MP M.K. Raghavan and reflects a broader push to extend digital services to public representatives. MPs are entitled to travel in AC First Class or Executive Class under their existing privileges, and this portal will offer them a seamless, self-service ticketing experience, avoiding dependence on manual systems.

The platform is being developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), mirroring similar enhancements in passenger-facing systems like the RailOne app. The portal aims to reduce administrative delays, increase transparency, and empower users to manage their travel online. No launch date has yet been specified, but the project is actively underway.
