Patna, July 12, 2025 – Security at Jayaprakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport was significantly tightened on Saturday, after officials received a bomb threat email sent to the airport director’s official account at about 9 PM on Friday, July 11. A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC), including CISF officers, airport security, and local police, promptly convened and ruled the threat non-specific and a hoax by late evening.
City SP (Central) Diksha confirmed that although no suspicious device was found, a formal case has been registered under relevant statutes. Authorities are now working to trace the IP address used to send the email, with assistance from a cyber‑forensics team within the Economic Offences Unit.
This incident marks the latest in a series of bomb hoaxes that have targeted Indian airports during the monsoon season, including similar scares in Patna in June, Pune, and Delhi last month. While operations resumed normally once no threat was detected, security levels remain elevated as a precaution.
