In a recent interview, Tejashwi Yadav—leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the chief ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan—laid out a clear strategy for Bihar’s future development. He emphasised that job creation is not a cost but an essential investment that links livelihoods with health, education and infrastructure. Yadav argued that government employment in sectors like health and education will bring large-scale employment while simultaneously strengthening schools, hospitals and utilities — creating a multiplier effect rather than a drain.
On the topic of welfare versus doles, Yadav drew a sharp distinction: while opponents call schemes ‘freebies’, he insists his plans, such as the proposed ‘Mai-Bahan Maan Yojana’, are sustainable and uplift women long-term by giving them tools for economic independence rather than short-term relief. He also stressed that Bihar’s youth migration must be reversed and that his focus is on “development, not distraction”. With the upcoming elections, he presents his alliance as offering representation and inclusive governance, promising that all communities will have a voice.
