India & France team up for joint military drills - here's what's at stake!

Indian and French militaries concluded Exercise Shakti, a two-week joint wargame held from June 18 to July 1 in France's Aveyron and Herault regions. The exercise involved over 500 French personnel from various units including the Foreign Legion, Air and Space Force, and Navy, alongside 90 Indian personnel primarily from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.

Deploying 50 armoured vehicles, tactical units, and fighter jets, the exercise focused on enhancing joint operational preparedness for sub-conventional combat environments. It served as a platform for exchanging tactical best practices between the forces.

Exercise Shakti joins other regular Indo-French defence collaborations including Garuda (air forces) and Varuna (navies), reflecting both nations' commitment to strengthening defence partnerships and global security cooperation.
