Since the monsoon began on June 20, Himachal Pradesh has suffered estimated losses exceeding ₹1,500 crore, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC). The relentless rains triggered 42 flash floods, 25 cloudbursts, and 32 landslides, wrecking havoc across the hill state.
As of July 27, 2025, 88 people have died and 35 remain missing in rain‑related incidents. Over 1,316 houses have been either fully or partially damaged.
Authorities have raised an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts. This has compounded the crisis, disrupting basic services.
Infrastructure remains devastated: nearly 200 roads are blocked, including national highways, and over 75 power transformers and 97 water supply schemes have been impacted, leaving large areas without electricity or safe water.
Relief operations are ongoing, but the scale of damage underscores the urgent need for accelerated support and reconstruction efforts.
