In a bizarre case of fabricated diplomacy, a man from Ghaziabad was arrested for operating a fake embassy of the so-called "Kingdom of Westarctica"—a micronation that claims a portion of Antarctica but has no legal recognition. Harshvardhan Jain, who introduced himself as a "Baron" of Westarctica, set up an elaborate embassy-like building in the city, complete with luxury cars bearing fake diplomatic number plates, official-looking seals, and signage.
Jain would reportedly arrive at events in high-end vehicles with security and was seen wearing clothes with emblems of the fake kingdom. Local authorities began probing the case after a complaint was received regarding the suspicious nature of his "diplomatic" activities. Police discovered that Jain had no connection to any real diplomatic entity and that Westarctica is not recognized by any government.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security loopholes and misuse of diplomatic symbolism. Jain is being investigated for forgery, impersonation, and misrepresentation under multiple legal sections.
