Soj Gamayon, a student from Ateneo de Manila University, is developing an AI-powered app, AgriConnect PH, to help Filipino farmers detect crop issues early and act fast.
Inspired by his uncle’s struggles in farming and his experience abroad in Singapore and Vietnam, Soj designed the app to reduce risks caused by unpredictable weather and pests.
The app uses smart sensors installed around farms to monitor water levels, moisture, and pests. This data is sent to the cloud, analyzed by AI, and alerts the farmer in real-time with green (normal), yellow (moderate), or red (critical) warnings. Farmers receive actionable advice through the app at least twice daily.
Currently, the app supports cereal crops like rice and corn but will soon expand to vegetables and livestock. Gamayon believes that data-driven tools like this are key to transforming agriculture and giving farmers a real chance to grow smarter and more efficiently.
