Adivasi values offer a path to a more beautiful, balanced India, says Dr. Faizi

Dr. S. Faizi emphasizes that India stands to become significantly more vibrant and harmonious when Adivasi (indigenous tribal) cultural values—rooted in communal living, deep ecological awareness, and care for common spaces—begin informing mainstream society. Drawing from his experience working with tribal youth in the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve, he contrasts their strong sense of community and stewardship of shared lands with the atomized, privatized urban life in cities like Bangalore.

He observes that while urban environments progressively erode public commons—turning open fields into private estates—the Adivasi model preserves communal harmony and sustainable coexistence with nature. Dr. Faizi argues that reviving such communitarian approaches is not merely nostalgic, but essential for addressing contemporary crises—from climate breakdown to societal fragmentation.

He suggests that embracing Adivasi perspectives—like shared responsibility, ecological respect, and deep relational values—would enrich the national social fabric and contribute to a more beautiful, balanced India. Dr. Faizi positions Adivasi wisdom as a timely corrective to prevailing capitalist, individualistic models, and calls for greater integration of indigenous philosophies into public life.
