AAP alleges slum demolition notices issued in Shalimar Bagh & Shahdara!

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP-led Delhi government of issuing demolition notices to longstanding slum clusters in Shalimar Bagh and Shahdara, alleging a betrayal of earlier housing assurances.

AAP Leader of the Opposition Atishi stated that the residents of Indira Camp (Shalimar Bagh) and Lalbagh (Shahdara) - communities established under legitimate allotment cards in 1990 - have been given just 15 days to vacate their homes. While Indira Camp residents received notices on July 23, Lalbagh slums are slated for bulldozing on July 31.

Atishi criticized the BJP for reneging on promises such as "Jahan jhuggi, wahin makaan", arguing that the demolition threatens residents who have lived undisturbed for over three decades. She pledged AAP’s firm opposition, calling the move anti-poor and vowing resistance in these localities, which are represented by BJP leaders.

No official response has yet been issued by BJP or the Delhi government. Meanwhile, AAP underlines that its own tenure never saw demolitions without rehabilitating residents first, contrasting sharply with current actions.
