On June 21, 2025, Visakhapatnam witnessed a historic celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga, where the coastal city shattered 23 global records, including two Guinness World Records, under the leadership of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Over 303,000 participants performed yoga at a single location along RK Beach, marking a Guinness-record achievement. This monumental event attracted participants from 170 countries and spanned a 28–30 km stretch, with the Common Yoga Protocol orchestrated by PM Modi alongside more than 300,000 others.
The celebrations also featured a remarkable display of 22,122 tribal students from the Alluri Sitarama Raju district performing 108 Surya Namaskars—a separate Guinness-recognized feat carried out the previous day.
Logistical efforts were massive: 10,230 vehicles, including over 3,000 buses, were deployed to bring participants from neighboring districts into 326 designated compartments along the coast. Authorities coordinated traffic, health services, sanitation, and crowd management to ensure smooth execution.
Branded as “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” under the YogaAndhra‑2025 initiative, the event aimed to promote wellness and unity. It concluded with the launch of a “Visakhapatnam Yoga Day Declaration,” committing to daily practice across Andhra Pradesh.
